Background - During the April 7, 2004 City Commission study session, the Fire/Medical Department briefed the commission on our request for consideration of the Station No. 5 and a Quint fire apparatus. Staff received direction at that time from the Commission to move forward with the purchase of a Quint. A quint is a fire engine and a ladder combined. This vehicle will be an addition to our current fleet of three quints.

● Review of Specifications – A comprehensive review of the bids from the four manufactures revealed only Midwest Vehicle Professionals – Pierce met the intent of the specifications. The remaining three manufactures bids did not meet major requirements and therefore we recommend they be excluded. Specifications that were not met or addressed include different engine than specified, lack of cabinet space to store equipment, reduced weight parameters, which restricted required water and hose capacity.

Additional tip load and gpm flow $3,418.00
Roll Sensing System $1,200.00
