RE: Sherylville Estates Future Sanitary Sewer Pumping Capacity Improvement Costs
Mr. Steinbacher –
The development of Sherylville Estates will create the need for additional sanitary sewer pumping capacity in the current Pump Station 28 drainage area. It is City staff’s understanding that the developers of Sherylville Estates are not interested in delaying their project until the completion of the 2009 project outlined in the 2003 Wastewater Master Plan dealing with this pumping capacity issue and other related issues in the drainage basin. Therefore, recent discussions between staff, the developer and you have focused on your proposal to provide a temporary solution.
Although contrary to the 2003 Wastewater Master Plan, the proposed temporary redistribution of flow in the area to accommodate the additional flow from Sherylville Estates to the existing Pump Station 28 is something staff can support under the following condition:
In order to develop a cost for the Sherylville Estates development’s share of the project, Utilities Department staff have evaluated several recent pump station projects, as well as the proposed Pump Station 28 Capital Improvement project outlined in the 2003 Wastewater Master Plan. Based on this evaluation, the current cost to provide the required increase in pumping capacity due to the development of Sherylville Estates is estimated to be $43,600.00.
Please contact me should you have any questions regarding this, or should you require additional information.
