Recognition
Lawrence, Kansas
WHEREAS: The City of Lawrence believes in recognizing the efforts and accomplishments of City employees; and
WHEREAS: Roger Coffey began his tenure with the City of Lawrence in 1975 as Assistant Utilities Director and was promoted in 1980 to Director; and, has impacted the Lawrence community by leading the operations, maintenance and development of the City’s water and wastewater facilities over the past 30 years; and
WHEREAS: Roger provided leadership in the construction and expansion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, the construction and expansion of the Clinton Water Plant, and the preliminary planning for a new Water Reclamation Facility; and
WHEREAS: Roger served as Chairman of the Kansas Water Works Association from 1989 to 1990 and was awarded the George Warren Fuller Award in 1992 for distinguished service in the water industry by the American Water Works Association; and
WHEREAS: Elected officials, employees, and citizens of Lawrence, Kansas take pride in recognizing the occasion of Roger’s retirement and in acknowledging his years of dedication and commitment in the performance of his duties on behalf of the Utilities Department, the City and its citizens.
NOW, THERFORE, I Dennis “Boog” Highberger, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, along with my fellow commissioners, do hereby recognize Department of Utilities Director Roger D. Coffey on his retirement and urge all citizens of Lawrence to join us in this recognition.
