Dear Mayor Highberger:
The Lawrence Home Builders Association requests exemption from Section 5-705.1 of the Sign Ordinance during our annual Fall Showcase of Homes.
The Fall Showcase of Homes takes place two weekends, September 24th & 25th and October 1st and 2nd. Typically, the builder sets out directional arrows the Saturday morning of the first weekend and then the LHBA removes the signs the Monday following the second weekend. According to the Sign Ordinance, we are noncompliant by leaving the directional arrows in place Monday through Friday between the first and second weekends.
There are 37 entries on the Spring Parade of Homes, including 27 in Lawrence. The purpose of our tour is to highlight the latest in home building features and trends and to give the community a composite of the types of newly built homes available in Lawrence, Baldwin, and Eudora.
