SUBJECT: Administrative Policy for Blasting Permits Issued per City Code Chapter 8 Section 8-207.55- 59

In order for a Blasting Permit to be issued under and regulated in accordance with existing City Code (Chapter 8, Section 8-207.55 – 59 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, 2003 Edition), the applicant shall provide to the Fire Marshal, the final plat of the site showing approved utility easements, on or before December 31, 2005. Requests for GIS maps and address lists for the purpose of securing a Blasting Permit will not be processed without the final plat.
Submission of a final plat to the Fire Marshal on or before December 31, 2005, shall be evidence of an applicant’s intent to obtain a City of Lawrence blasting permit under Section 8-207.55-59 of the City Code. If the applicant who submits a final plat to the Fire Marshal on or before December 31, 2005 with an intent to obtain a blasting permit, fails to secure a City of Lawrence blasting permit for the project on or before April 1, 2006, the permit application and any blasting operations conducted thereunder shall be governed by the requirements of Ordinance No. 7925.
Final plats submitted for the purpose of securing a Blasting Permit after January 1, 2006 will be required to comply with Ordinance No. 7925.
Active permits for blasting operations issued prior to January 1, 2006, will be permitted to continue to operate under existing City Code (8-207.55-59) for the duration of the project.
