RE: |
Sesquicentennial Commission September 13th presentation to City Commission
|
It has been our pleasure to work with the Sesquicentennial Commission during our celebration of our 2004 Sesquicentennial year. We worked on committees well before 2004 to help plan the celebration and its many events throughout this special year.
Clenece Hills, Chair of this committee has worked tirelessly to make sure this event was a milestone for Lawrence. She will present a final report to the City Commission on September 13th.
Sesquicentennial Point, on City leased land east of Clinton Lake, was selected as a lasting gift to our community for this major historical milestone, similar to Centennial Park’s dedication in 1954, our 100th birthday.
Chuck Warner volunteered to head a fund raising effort for Sesquicentennial Point and their report will be presented to the City Commission.
We have met to review their successful efforts and are prepared to continue to work with this group to make this project a reality. Attached is a projected phase one, which appears to be feasible based on funds raised to date.
