Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:   The spirit and enthusiasm revolving around Homecoming has been a KU tradition since the first football game in 1912; and

WHEREAS:   With the first victory in 1912, Jayhawk pride has continued to blossom and expand; and

WHEREAS:   Homecoming activities benefit both the spirit of campus and the Lawrence community, while building upon traditions of past years; and

WHEREAS:   The week’s festivities begin with the Spirit Sprint and conclude with the football game against the University of Missouri Tigers and there is no doubt that at the conclusion of homecoming week, students and the Lawrence community alike will be reinvigorated with the KU spirit.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Dennis “Boog” Highberger, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim October 22 – 29 as

“UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS HOMECOMING WEEK”
