I am working on a project to move a house within the Burroughs Creek Corridor area. I would like to move the house located at 1503 Haskell, within the Hanscom-Tappan development, to the vacant property at 1313 Haskell. I would like to request that the Burroughs Creek Corridor Plan Study Committee recommend to the City Commission the approval of a building permit to proceed with this project.
I believe that this project fits with the goals of the Corridor Plan in every way. The second goal of the Corridor Plan includes to “support infill development that is residential and mixed use”. This project would replace a house that formerly existed at this site. The house is consistent in size and style with current houses in the 1300 block. One of the subpoints of this goal is to “Identify historic resources, and support adaptive rehabilitation and/or renovation of existing properties to support historic character of the area.” This project will save a 100 year old house within the plan area from demolition, and preserve it 2 blocks from its original location.
Time is of the essence in this project. The developers at 15th and Haskell need the house removed by the end of October. I only became aware of the building moratorium late Thursday of last week, after the land had been purchased and foundation design had already begun. Please let me know if there is any other information i can provide to support this request. You can reach me by email at gregseibelcoop@yahoo.com or by cell phone at 760-5288.
Thank you,
