Re: Old West Lawrence Rezoning Proposal Dear Ms. Leininger:

The purpose of this letter is to state my opposition to the rezoning proposal submitted by the Old West Lawrence (OWL) Neighborhood Association that would result in the rezoning of properties located at 622 and 624 Alabama.

622 and 624 Alabama are currently zoned RM-1 (multi-family residential). The proposal calls for rezoning these properties to RS-2 (single family residential). It has been determined that under current ordinances, a multifamily dwelling could be built on both properties.

The properties were purchased, largely in part, due to the RM-1 zoning designation. This rezoning action will eliminate currently available options to construct multifamily units. This limitation will result in the potential devaluation of property and ultimately loss of income.

Please carefully consider this request as it results in negative consequences. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (785) 865-8771 or Shane Munsch at (785) 218-4753.

Sincerely,

SUBJECT: Z-09-57-05 REQUEST TO REZONE

I appreciate the considerable effort the Planning Office has put into this proposal, and I commend the Planning Office for its foresight and vision in this effort. I purchased a house in the 600 Block of Alabama five years ago and performed a thorough rehab on it—re-wiring and re-plumbing up to code and installing CA and paint etc. Since than I've seen many other ambitious improvements on houses in the 600 Block of Alabama. The church at Seventh and Alabama has been completely re-worked. The day care building at Seventh and Alabama is a wonderful part of our integrated single-family neighborhood. I strongly support the proposed rezoning because it will enhance and protect all the good work that has taken place in this block since I've been a part of it.

Sincerely,
