Please place the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for their December 20, 2005 meeting:
Equipment Replacement Purchase – EBGC
Background Information
As we have discussed, we have a number of pieces of maintenance equipment at EBGC that will need to be replaced in the next 2-3 years. Most of this equipment is over 6 years old and is beginning to fail mechanically.
Staff Recommendation
I am recommending that we purchase 4 mowers (see list below) at a purchase price of $84,704 using an existing State purchasing contract with John Deere to purchase this equipment. This will allow us to acquire the appropriate equipment in a timely fashion. Additionally, the contract with John Deere gives a 20% discount off manufactures suggested retail price. This method of purchasing gives the best price available. The state contract with John Deere expires December 31st of this year. Attached please find the price quote from John Deere that was used to develop the staff recommendation for equipment purchase.
Action Request
Staff requests the City Commission to approve the following purchase of mowing equipment from the John Deere State purchasing Contract:
· Eleven Blade Diesel Triplex Greens Mower $26,395.20
· Seven Blade Diesel Triplex Greens Mower 26,382.40
· Five Blade 3WD Diesel Utility Mower 22,273.20
· Five Blade 3WD Diesel Utility Mower 22,153.20
· Trade In Allowance (12,500.00)
· TOTAL $84,704.00
