On December 13, 2005, the City of Lawrence opened proposals for the following:  

Bid#0545 –  One (1) Tandem Axle Truck – Public Works Department

Public works requested bids for a tandem axle truck.  This truck will replace Unit 317, a 1996 Kodiak, with high maintenance costs that has exceeded its service life.  The low bid from Westfall GMC does not meet engine specifications.  The bid from KCR International doesn’t meet transmission specifications and the alternate from KCR International doesn’t meet the forward axle weight specifications.  The bid from Midway Truck Center has a longer wheel base than required in the specs which makes a higher turning radius. 

Recommendation Action:

Approve bid from Topeka Freightliner for one (1) tandem axle truck in the amount of $59,457.48 (Public Works/Stormwater Fund)
