The Finance Department requested bids for car wash and detailing service for all City vehicles. The City has approximately 32 passenger type cars (not including police cars), 58 police cars, 15 vans, 113 pickups up to 1 ton (single axles), 3 one ton pickups, 38 one ton pickups dual rear wheel, and 17 SUV’s.
The City spent approximately $14,000.00 in 2006 for these services. There were 2400 tokens used in drive through car washes and in self service bays. There were also approximately 500 vehicle full service washes in a detail shop. Most of the full service washes were performed on police cars due to excessive dirt and or body fluids left by people being transported by police officers.
The bid was written so it could be awarded to more than one vendor, one vendor for car was service and one vendor for detailing service. It was also written so it can be renewed for two additional one year periods providing funds are available. The service will be paid from many accounts that were approved in the 2007 budgeting process.
Recommendation Action:
Approve car wash bid from Zarco 66, Inc. and detailing service bid from Custom Highline with the option to renew for an additional two one year periods in an amount not to exceed $14,000.00 (all departments)
