Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:       Clyde Bysom is a life-long resident of Lawrence, who will celebrate his 90^th birthday this October, and

WHEREAS:       He played his first concert in 1929 at the South Park Gazebo, and led dance bands in and around Lawrence and the University of Kansas; and

WHEREAS:       His 1940’s dance band was recognized in Down Beat Magazine and all over the world; and

WHEREAS:       He has tirelessly volunteered his musical performances and his six decades of support of music has benefited our community and pleased audiences worldwide; and

WHEREAS:       Clyde Bysom will be featured at the Gaslite Gang’s 45^th Reunion concert with the Lawrence City Band at the South Park Gazebo on Sunday, September 16 during Lawrence’s 153^rd Birthday Party;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sue Hack, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim Sunday, September 16, 2007 to be

“CLYDE BYSOM DAY”
