Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:       Life insurance provides financial security for families in the event of death by helping surviving family members to meet immediate, ongoing, and future financial obligations and objectives; and

WHEREAS:       Surveys consistently indicate that the vast majority of Americans believe that life insurance is an essential part of a sound financial plan, however the unfortunate reality today is that forty-four percent of US households say they lack the adequate life insurance protection; and

WHEREAS:       The Lawrence Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, in conjunction with the Life and Health Insurance for Education, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and a coalition representing hundreds of leading life insurance companies and organizations, along with the State of Kansas, have designated September 2007 as “Life Insurance Awareness Month” with a goal of making consumers more aware of their life insurance needs;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sue Hack, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim the month of September, 2007 to be

“LIFE INSURANCE AWARENESS MONTH”

in Lawrence and urge citizens to learn more about life insurance and its benefits.
