Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:   The Knights of Columbus Councils 1372 and 12960 in Lawrence will be extending a helping hand to individuals during the 12^th, 13^th, and 14^th days of October by participating in the 37^th annual Tootsie Roll Fund Drive for “People with Intellectual Disabilities”; and

WHEREAS:   Hundreds of citizens have received needed assistance from the Knight’s Tootsie Roll campaign through which over $5000, was raised last year; and

WHEREAS:   It is important to be aware of the need to assist these citizens, who with training and instruction can be prepared to lead happy and productive lives;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sue Hack, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim October 12, 13, and 14 to be

“KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HELPING PEOPLE WITH

 INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES DAYS”

and urge all citizens of this community to recognize the merits of this cause by contributing generously to its support through their donation toward a tootsie roll on the days set aside to raise money to help those agencies concerned with people with intellectual disabilities in this area.
