Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the September 9, 2008 meeting:
BACKGROUND:
Microsurfacing is one of the maintenance techniques the City has found to be successful in extending the life of our streets. This product is a polymer or latex modified asphalt emulsion and incorporates a fine aggregate (sand) to place a renewed surface on asphalt streets. It is placed in a “slurry” type consistency approximately 1/4” thick. The product provides a new wearing surface, seals minor imperfections and cracks, and provides a life extension of 3-5 years depending on traffic volumes. This is a low cost maintenance technique.
The 2008 budget included funds from the sales tax reserve for this program. The attached map identifies the area for this year’s program.
