On December 18, 2012 the City of Lawrence opened proposals for the following:

The exterior work includes a sewer replacement, a roof replacement, adding soffits, replacing a storm door, a minor fence repair, minor landscaping, rebuild the front landing guardrails, prep and paint trim, replace window well covers and GFCI protect an exterior outlet.  Garage work includes removing the concrete floor and replace. The interior work includes the following work:  Electrical work to include a ceiling fan box and GFCI protecting outlets. Plumbing work includes adding shut-off valves, replacing a sink trap and making a required repair to a garbage disposal drain pipe.  Mechanical work includes a furnace replacement and dryer vent replacement.  Other interior work includes a minor drywall repair, painting, caulking, minor carpentry work to doors and replacing a door. This project also includes the following alternates: Alternate #1 – Bathroom Flooring Replacement, #2 – Tub/Shower Reconfiguration in the Main Bathroom and Alternate #3 – Adding a Trench Drain in the Backyard.  House was built in 1968 and lead hazards are not present. Lead Coatings were found on the backsplash tiles in the basement bathroom, kitchen and laundry room.  Contractor should avoid disturbing these areas and if hazards are not created the Clearance requirements will not apply.

 

Recommendation Action:

 

Approve the bid from T & J Holdings, Inc. for the Comprehensive Rehabilitations Project at 133 Florida Street in the amount of $19,450.00 for the Base Bid, $660.00 for Alternate #1, $2,100.00 for Alternate #2 and $1,750.00 for Alternate #3.  Total contract price of $23,960.00.
