RE:	Recommendation regarding Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission request for additional Outdoor Downtown Sculpture Exhibition Funding in celebration of its 25^th Anniversary

Please place the following item on the January 15, 2013 City Commission consent agenda:

Approve staff recommendation to fund Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission request for additional funds for the 2013 Outdoor Downtown Sculpture Exhibition, if appropriate.  

Background and Recommendation:

At its December 18, 2012 meeting, the City Commission received a request from the Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission for $5000 in additional funding during 2013 to enhance the Outdoor Downtown Sculpture Exhibition, which will be celebrating its 25^th annual exhibition. The City Commission referred the item to staff for a recommendation.

It appears that the Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission budget for 2012 will be approximately $4000 under the allocated budget.  Unallocated budgeted funds go back into the fund balance in the Special Recreation Fund, from which the LCAC is funded.  Staff recommends that the additional funding requested by the Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission be allocated from fund balance within the Special Recreation Fund.
