RE:               Bid date for 2013 Districts Mowing Contracts

Please include the following item on the City Commission agenda for consideration at the February 26, 2013, meeting:

Set a bid opening date of March 12, 2013, for the 2013 district mowing contracts.

Project Description

As of 2011 The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department has coordinated the bidding of contractual mowing services for the City. In 2011 we received bids for areas broken down by districts as well as specified landscape areas. The contracts were to be renewable for a total of 5 years if agreeable by both parties. To-date we have not been able to confirm renewal for the 2013 mowing season on several of the mowing contracts. Therefore, we are requesting approval to solicit new bids for mowing districts 2 and 4.

Project Funding

It is estimated this these bids will total $65,000.00 – $75,000.00. Funding for this project will come from the General Fund and the Utilities Fund.

Action Request

The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to set a bid date of March 12, 2013, for contractual mowing services for the mowing districts 2 and 4.
