Project Description. The microsurfacing project includes a number of City residential and collector streets including streets generally bordered by Kasold Dr to Wakarusa Dr and W 6th St to Bob Billings Pkwy. Streets to receive microsurfacing are determined to be in generally good condition. Those that are deteriorated beyond the recommended condition for microsurfacing will be included in future milling and overlay programs.
Project History. The City’s annual pavement maintenance program was reviewed and approved by the City Commission on January 15, 2013. Of the various contracted maintenance program projects, the 2013 Concrete Rehabilitation Program is planned for bid on March 19, 2013, the 2013 Crack Seal Program (to be performed by City internal crews), the 2013 Overlay Program Phase 1, and the KLINK Overlay work on Iowa St from 29th St to City Limit are also planned for this construction season as presented at the January 15, 2013 City Commission Meeting.
Project Details. The project includes various surface and full depth patching of deteriorated areas on City streets followed by the microsurfacing of the entire pavement surface (see attached location map). All existing pavement markings will be reestablished.
Project Funding. The pavement maintenance program is funded from several sources including the general fund, gas tax funds, sales tax and sales tax reserve, and capital improvement reserve accounts. Funding for the program was approved in August, 2012 and adopted in the 2013 City Budget. This project was included in the 2013 Pavement Maintenance Program for microsurfacing to be paid from the general fund.
Action Request. Award contract to Bettis Asphalt & Construction, Inc. for City Bid No. B1311, Project No. PW1318 - 2013 Microsurfacing Program in the total amount of $474,300.50.
