Lawrence, Kansas
WHEREAS: Educational pursuits, from pre-elementary to post-graduate studies, are widely supported by the Lawrence community; and
WHEREAS: Lawrence strives to be a community known for excellent schools and teachers; and
WHEREAS: Kathleen Bowen gives of herself for the betterment of her community; and
WHEREAS: Kathleen Bowen has accomplished a feat that will benefit not only her city but moreover, the students at Hillcrest Elementary School and all those persons associated with the school; and
WHEREAS: Kathleen Bowen has been named a “Kansas Master Teacher” for 2013 by the Teacher’s College at Emporia State University; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert J. Schumm, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, April 3, 2013, as
to honor her for her outstanding service to the students of Hillcrest Elementary School and the USD 497 School District. I call upon all citizens of the City of Lawrence and Douglas County to celebrate and honor Kathleen for her work and accomplishments in the field of teaching and education and for her support of the Lawrence community.
