RE:	Request to purchase Compressed Natural Gas powered Roll-off Truck

Please place the following item on the consent agenda for the City Commission to consider at their May 7, 2013 meeting:

Background:

As part of the 2013 budget process, funding was approved for the purchase of a Roll-off truck for the Solid Waste Division.

Solid Waste is requesting the purchase of this truck from the Kansas City Metropolitan Purchasing Contract. The truck will come from the MACPP contract complete with the roll off bed and compressed natural gas power train. 

Recommendations

Purchase One (1) CNG roll-off truck off the MACPP bid from K.C. Freightliner.

Project Funding

Funding for this purchase will come from:

1. 502-3-3515-6004 Solid Waste vehicle replacement in the amount of $140,000.00

2. KCRCCC-ARRA grant award for the upgrade to CNG $50,000.00. Participation in this grant was approved by the City Commission 4/16/2013.

Action Request

If appropriate authorize the Public Works Department Solid Waste Division to purchase:

1. One roll-off truck powered by CNG from K.C. Freightliner on the MACPP contract for $185,323.29.
