RE:	Request to purchase Compressed Natural Gas fuel station equipment and installation

Please place the following item on the consent agenda for the City Commission to consider at their May 7, 2013 meeting:

Background:

The Central Maintenance Garage Division of Public Works sent out requests for proposal for the construction of a natural gas fueling station as part of the Kansas City Region Clean Cities Coalition American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant that was approved for participation by the City Commission on January 3, 2013. The grant application and memorandum of understanding with KCRCCC was approved on the consent agenda on April 16, 2013.  Staff has completed our evaluation. The proposals are available for review.

Recommendations

Staff recommends accepting the proposal by P.B. Hoidale for the installation of the station.

Project Funding

Funding for this purchase will come from:

1. Solid Waste equipment reserve in the amount of $44,318.68

2. KCRCCC-ARRA grant award for the installation of a CNG station $44,318.68.

Action Request

If appropriate authorize the Public Works Department Solid Waste Division to purchase:

1. One CNG fuel station and installation from P.B. Hoidale for the price of $88,637.36.
