Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:   Help and Hope are the main components of the mission of the Muscular Dystrophy Association; and

WHEREAS:   MDA serves many families living with neuromuscular diseases by providing helpful resources including flu shots, support groups, clinics, repairs and modifications to durable medical equipment as well as progressive research; and

WHEREAS:   Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical and IAFF Local 1596 support the MDA by collecting donations throughout the community during their Fill the Boot campaign on May 18, 19, and 20 of 2013; and

WHEREAS:   The International Association of Firefighters has been a proud and powerful supporter of MDA for over 50 years by raising funds and awareness for families living in their community.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael Dever, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim the week of May 18-20, 2013 as

“Lawrence Fill the Boot Days for MDA”

in the City of Lawrence.
