Dear Secretary LaHood:

The Lawrence City Commission fully supports the University of Kansas’ application to reconstruct major transits routes through the KU campus.  The City and KU jointly operate a coordinated transit system.  The project will reconstruct failing infrastructure that was not originally designed for the loading of today’s transit system.

Additionally the City supports the complete streets elements incorporated into this project.  The inclusion of bikeway and pedestrian facilities will enhance the City’s network.

This project will improve existing transportation facilities, repair and reconstruct failing infrastructure, create and preserve jobs, increase transportation choices and access, and improve energy efficiencies.  Again the City of Lawrence fully supports the University of Kansas’ application and looks forward to the successful completion.
