RE:	Bid No. B1329, PW1304, Airport Pavement Maintenance & Repair Award Memo

The FAA has programmed a pavement maintenance project for the Lawrence Municipal Airport.  The project includes crack sealing, surface seal and striping of runway 15-33.

The project will be funded 90% by the FAA and 10% by the City.  On June 4, 2013 bids were opened.  Three bids were received (bid tab and bid recommendation attached).  The low bid was submitted by Vance Brothers, Inc. in an amount of $249,293.50.  The Engineer’s Estimate was $242,083.00.

We have reviewed the bids, Vance Brothers has successfully completed similar projects for the City in the past and we would recommended awarding the bid to Vance Brothers as the lowest responsive bidder.

The City share will come from the Airport and Street Maintenance Budgets.

Action Request:  Pending FAA approval, and issuance and award of grant, waive Engineer’s Estimate and award Bid Number B1329, Project No. PW1304, Airport Pavement Maintenance and Repair to Vance Brothers, Inc. in an amount of $249,293.50.
