On Tuesday, June 4, 2013, the City of Lawrence, Douglas County, Wakarusa Township, Franklin County, City of Baldwin, City of Eudora, and the City of Ottawa opened sealed bids for road salt in a cooperative purchasing agreement. Last year the City purchased 3,500 tons of road salt in a cooperative bid for $49.98 a ton. This year the City requested bids for 2,500 tons of salt with the option to buy an additional 1000 tons in the spring of 2014. The results are:
