Please include the following item on the City Commission Agenda for consideration at the July 23, 2013 meeting.

Project Description

The 9th & Kentucky and 9th & Michigan intersections were both approved for funds through KDOT's Highway Safety Improvement Program.  The project at 9th & Kentucky will install a signal system including longer mast arms, new signal heads, pedestrian heads and upgraded sidewalk ramps.  The signals will align with the new lane configuration being installed with the 9th & Tennessee project that is scheduled to begin this August.

The 9th Street, Emery to Michigan project includes geometric improvements to provide a center, two-way left turn lane between Emery and Michigan Street. Installation of new sidewalk and a new signal at 9th & Emery is included in project.

Project Status/Schedule

The 9th & Kentucky project is currently being design in-house by city staff.  Final plans are anticipated to be complete in August with a KDOT letting of October 16, 2013.  Construction will begin in early 2014.

The 9th Street, Emery to Michigan project will be designed in-house by city staff. Final plans are to be complete in January 2014 with a KDOT letting of March 19, 2014.  Construction will occur in summer 2014.
