RE: |
Lincoln Street from N 2nd to N 7th Street, Traffic Study |
At the City Commission meeting on May 21, 2013 it was requested that we look at the traffic volumes and speeds on Lincoln Street, from N 2nd Street to N 7th Street. Attached is a memo from David Woosley, City Traffic Engineer, which provides the results of the traffic counts and analysis. Summarizing, neither the speeds nor volumes warrant any traffic calming measures or additional control. Other considerations:

The North Lawrence Neighborhood Association would like to see traffic calming installed on Lincoln Street (speed humps). If the City Commission desires or approves the installation, the costs would be approximately $15,000 ($7,500 for installation). There is a backlog of Traffic Calming Projects that have been approved but not currently funded (attached). Typically, traffic calming devices have been installed when maintenance of the street occurs. Lincoln Street was microsurfaced in 2010 and may not be due for maintenance for a few years.
Action Request. Pending Commission discussion provide staff direction.
Respectfully Submitted,
