City Employees,

This week marked the first challenging stretch of winter weather so far this season.  I wanted to share some of the comments we received from citizens about our employees’ hard work clearing snow.  These comments are repeated dozens of times to me and I am always grateful to be the one receiving the compliments but I want the employees to hear the comments, too.

Facebook Posts:

JoLynn Kaberline This is my 1st winter living in Lawrence and I am so impressed with the city on cleaning up this mess.

Alecia W S Gray  "Thank you for the spectacular job you're doing in keeping the major roads clear! I know it can't be easy, and yet you've done it. Bravo, Lawrence!"

Brian Sloop Nice job keeping/getting things cleaned up and dropping the extra dime to have contractors get the project done fast.

Morgan E Ferrer "Hey City of Lawrence, just shoveled my own street, you guys rock!!!"

Jennifer Greever "I managed to get trapped in the snow going through a roundabout this morning when some awesome City of Lawrence guys happened by. While Ellis shoveled and pushed, Arlie plowed a way out of suburbia before coming back to also help push me to freedom. Thank you City of Lawrence for employing these incredibly kind, hard working, and jolly (possibly laughing at me?!) souls!! "

E-mails:

I just wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped to clear the roads after this huge snowfall and keep our city running with trash pickup.  You've all done a tremendous job.  I am sure everyone has had to pull long hours away from their families when it would be much more satisfying to stay warm by the fire.

With gratitude, Amanda Lutz

Thanks for the great snow removal job this week.  We appreciate everyone's hard work.  Great job!!  - Pat Miller

Lastly, thanks to everyone working behind-the-scenes.  Our website received 20,651 pageviews on Tuesday, February 5 – we usually receive 5,000 pageviews a day but our community really responded to how we’re working to get information out – especially during snow and weather emergencies.

Sincerely,

David L. Corliss
