2015 Project Awards

 

The American Public Works Association (APWA) Kansas Chapter selected their Project of the Year Awards for 2015 Projects and the City of Lawrence received three awards:

 

·         31st Street Relocation & Expansion Projects - Transportation $5M to $25M.   This project was a partnership between the City/KDOT to construct 31st Street from Louisiana Street to O'Connell Road.   Project included new concrete pavement and bike facilities and was constructed by Emery Sapp & Sons.

 

 

 

·         Breezedale Monuments - Historical Restoration/Preservation - less than $5M.  This project was a partnership between the City and KDOT through their Transportation Alternatives programs.  Design was performed by Hernly Architects and construction by Gunter Contractors.

 

 

·         Lawrence VenturePark - Environmental Category - less than $5M.  This project included the remediation work for the RCRA Site and Interceptor Trench at VenturePark.  CFS Engineers produced design plans and King's Construction was contractor.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Venture Park Development project also received the 2015 award of "Outstanding Engineering Achievement" from the Topeka Chapter of The Kansas Society of Professional Engineers.
