Recommendations/Options/Action Requested:

Adopt Resolution No. 7243, declaring the City’s intent to issue general obligation bonds in the amount of $700,000 for the replacement of existing fire training tower which includes the design and construction of a new fire training tower. (Project No. FM1703CIP)

Executive Summary:

This resolution allows for the replacement of the 1993 fire-training tower located at 1941 Haskell Avenue.  This project was identified and included as part of the City’s 2018 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).  This resolution allows for the issuance of general obligation bonds to pay for this improvement.

We have identified that this location has not been platted nor a site plan for any of the occupants of the City owned parcel.  We are in the process of acquiring services to complete City Planning requirements.  At the same time, we are completing the design work and will have a construction contract ready to send to the CC for approval base on a sole source GSA contract price.

We anticipate demolition and construction to begin mid to late summer, with completion in 2018.
