Executive Summary: |
At its meeting on January 16, 2018, the City Commission took action to add three (3) additional appointments to the Affordable Housing Advisory Board (AHAB). During the discussion, the City Commission requested that AHAB discuss adding additional “at-large” city appointments to the board.
The AHAB discussed this issue at its March 12 meeting. After discussion, the board made a motion to request that the City Commission consider adding one (1) additional city appointee to the board and that the City pay close attention to diversity when making the appointment. The motion was approved unanimously 11-0. During its discussion, the Board thought that adding a new member now, during the housing study process, would make the most sense. This would enable a new member to take part in that process.
Should the Commission approve the request, the next steps would be for staff to prepare an ordinance to consider adding the position to the Board, which could be scheduled for April. |
