Award Bid for Lawrence Arts Center Roof Repair (CIP# PW18B6), to JB Turner & Sons, in the amount of $106,242, and authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement. |
Executive Summary: |
The Lawrence Arts Center was constructed in 2002. In recent history, there have been extensive water leaks into the Arts Center, and significant repairs were done to stop water infiltration. At this time, the warranty for this roof has expired and all current and future repairs are being taken care of by the Building and Structures division of the City of Lawrence.
Due to the cost associated with continual maintenance, an analysis of the building’s roof was completed by RSI (attached) and the recommendation was to overlay the current roofing material extending the life of the roof for an additional 20 years. The new overlay will be backed by a manufacturer’s warranty for the 20-year period. The completion of this project will eliminate any future water leaks not covered under warranty and extend the life of this roof. |
