Approve Minutes

Tracy Green moved to approve the December 20, 2017 board minutes, seconded by Jarrod Mann, which passed unanimously.

 

Review

·         Review 2015 local amendments

The board reviewed Sections 8-225 to 8-229 of the amendments.

§  The Board discussed section 503.6 Security Gates for a possible amendment due to City emergency vehicles switching from Opticom to a GPS system that runs traffic lights and security gates for emergency vehicles.  James King informed the Board of three options, require existing and future security gates to be equipped with either 1) a compatible GPS system, 2) switch to a click to enter system, or 3) install knox box access to the gates.  The Board requested cost details of these options and wish to discuss this item on a future agenda.

The board made no further recommendations.

·         Review 2018 Significant Changes

The board reviewed page 12 to page 72 of the significant changes.

§  Jarrod Mann moved to amend 903.2.8. Group R requirement for automatic sprinkler systems all follow 903.3.1.2 NFPA 13R sprinkler systems, seconded by Dan Wilkus, which passed unanimously.

 

·         Review 2018 International Fire Code (IFC)

The board reviewed Chapters 4 through 9 of the 2018 IFC. 

·         The Board discussed the impact 403.12.3, 403.12.3.1 Crowd Managers will have on local venues and events but did not recommend any changes to the code.  James King stated that he would include this requirement in his summary to the City Commission.

There were no recommended changes made by the board.

 

The meeting was adjourned.  The next meeting will be held, March 21, 2018, 4:30 p.m. in the McSwain Conference located at the Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medicals Administration Office.
