RESOLUTION NO. 7244

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS DETAILING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE TRANSIENT GUEST TAX ADVISORY BOARD FOR THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS AND REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 7151.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, APPOINTING AND CONFIRMING THE ADVISORY BOARD TO REVIEW THE APPLICATIONS FOR THE TRANSIENT GUEST TAX GRANT PROGRAM:

SECTION 1:  MEMBERSHIP OF THE ADVISORY BOARD; LENGTH OF TERMS

(a) The TGT Grant Program Advisory Board will comprise the following:

Two (2) Lawrence hotel industry representatives

One (1) Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission board members

One (1) eXplore Lawrence Governing Board member 

One (1) Lawrence arts and culture industry representative

Two (2) community members (at-large) 

The Advisory Board will be staffed by the Director of Communications and Creative Resources.

(b) Terms shall be limited to three-year terms, expiring May 31 of appropriate year, except when appointed to fill an unexpired term.  Terms shall be staggered so no more than three members will expire at one time. The position designated for the Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission Representative will not have an expiration date, but will be a permanent member of the board, with nominations from the Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission for membership to this board.

SECTION 2:   SAME; DUTIES.  The purpose of the Advisory Board is to review applications for, and provide recommendations to the City Commission for, city grant funds through the Transient Guest Tax Program.

SECTION 3: If any section, clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is found to be unconstitutional or is otherwise held invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect the validity of any remaining parts of this resolution.

SECTION 4:  This resolution shall take effect and be in full force and effect immediately following its adoption and publication as provided by law. Resolution No. 7151 is hereby repealed.
