Executive Summary: |
The goal for LDCHA’s application to ConnectHomeUSA is to bring free high-speed Wi-Fi to their low-income families at Edgewood Home at 1600 Haskell Ave. through a public/private partnership.
LDCHA has identified the mission of the project as: To bridge the digital divide through access to employment opportunities, education, and information for Edgewood Homes families by providing: 1. free high-speed Wi-Fi through a new fiber broadband infrastructure, 2. access to free or reduced cost technology, including computers and tablets, through everyoneon.org and connectingforgood.org, and 3. free computer and technology classes offered onsite by the Resident Services Office.
The ConnectHomeUSA application requires a letter of support from the City. The letter must confirm that the City is aware of the application that LDCHA is submitting to join the program, and that the City supports the initiative. |
