ORDINANCE NO. 9510
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, AMENDING CHAPTER XV, ARTICLE 2, SECTION 15-202 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, 2018 EDITION AND AMENDMENTS THERETO, PERTAINING TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD, AND REPEALING EXISTING SECTION 15-202.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:
SECTION 1. Section 15-202 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2018 Edition, and amendments thereto, is hereby amended to read as follows:
15-202 PARKS
AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD. APPOINTED
(A)
The
Governing Body of the City will appoint all presently acting members of the
Recreation Commission to a body which will be known as hereby endorses
continued existence of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (“the
Board”). Upon the effective date of this Ordinance No. 9510, the Board to
shall be composed of five (5) seven (7) members. The
term of each member shall be four (4) years. each to serve his or her
unexpired term. Reappointment shall be in accordance with City policy.
The Mayor, with approval from the Governing Body, will appoint individual
members of the Board.
(B) In accordance with Resolution No. 7224, members of the Board shall serve three-year terms, except when appointed to fill out an unexpired term. Members may serve for two consecutive, three-year terms. If originally appointed to an unexpired term, the Board member may complete that term plus two consecutive three-year terms.
(C) The Board shall adopt rules and by-laws in accordance with Resolution No. 7224.
(D) The Board shall comply with the requirements of the Kansas Open Meetings Act.
(E) The Board shall prepare and approve minutes of its meetings, and forward the same to the City Commission.
SECTION 2. Existing Chapter XV, Article 2, Section 15-202 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2018 Edition, and amendments thereto, is hereby repealed in its entirety, it being the intent of the Governing Body that Section 1 of this Ordinance supersede it.
SECTION 3. If any section, sentence, clause, or phrase of this ordinance is found to be unconstitutional or is otherwise held invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect the validity of any remaining parts of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect immediately following its adoption and publication as provided by law.
