RE:	Skydiving Update

On February 6, 2018, the City Commission received the Policies and Procedures for Parachute Operations at the Lawrence Municipal Airport.

The policies were approved with the following changes/revisions:

• #4 – Nighttime jumps will be allowed, providing that each skydiver displays a light visible for at least 3 statute miles from the time of parachute opening, until landing (FAR 105.19)
• #5 – Skydivers must exit the airplane within a 2 nautical mile radius centered on the geographic center of the Airports designated drop zone
• #11 – Electronic submittals of waiver forms will be accepted

These changes have been incorporated into the Policies & Procedures.

An application form has been developed.

The City has submitted to the FAA the location of the designated drop zone to be identified on the Airport Layout Plan.

Staff is reviewing and completing the release and waiver of liability form.  This should be completed in the next few weeks.

Upon completion of the release of liability form, all documents will be uploaded to the airport’s web page for users (skydivers) to make application to conduct skydiving events.
