Recommendations/Options/Action Requested:

 

Direct staff regarding the use of the additional $200,000 allocated to the Housing Trust Fund budget for 2018. 

 

Executive Summary:

During the 2018 revised budget process, an additional $200,000 was allocated to the Housing Trust Fund budget for the 2018 budget year.  During the process to add these funds to the 2018 budget, there was some general discussion by the City Commission, but no definitive use of the funds was formalized.  

 

Staff wishes to get direction from the City Commission regarding the use of these funds. There are several options. The City Commission could provide specific direction regarding the use of the funds and direct staff and the Affordable Housing Advisory Board (AHAB) accordingly, or the City Commission could request AHAB provide a recommendation regarding the use of funds. If the Commission wished to direct the funds to a specific need, it could be done with or without competition.   In any case the ultimate use of the funds would be determined by the City Commission.
