Off-Road Equipment fuel tax refund:

The Central Maintenance Garage Manager, Steve Stewart, compiled all the necessary documentation to apply for a refund of state fuel tax for fuel used in off-road equipment.  Documentation requirements are extensive, including the original invoices for all fuel deliveries, listing of each piece of fleet equipment (road and off-road), documentation of fuel gallons used by each piece of off road equipment, and calculations of actual state fuel taxes paid on gallons used by off-road equipment.  The state accepted our documentation and refunded $5,441.67 of the taxes we paid last year.

Tenant Appreciation Event at Airport

Nearly thirty aviation enthusiasts participated in the first annual Tenant Appreciation Event at the Lawrence Municipal Airport on June 10th.  City staff, Hetrick Air Services staff (the airport’s Fixed Base Operator), and members of the Aviation Advisory Board hosted the event which was intended to welcome new tenants to the airport (the twenty t-hangar units that were constructed in 2004) and express appreciation to all tenants for their support of the airport.  Plans are for this to become an annual event at the airport.
