CITY MANAGER’S REPORT

Week ending February 22, 2005

Employee PC Purchase Program

James Wisdom, Network Manager, reports that the Employee Personal Computer Purchase Program, in its seventh year, continues to be a highly valued employee benefit.  The program allows employees to “purchase” a home personal computer through a payroll deduction process, thus making the purchase more affordable.  With the increased use of computers and the organization’s transition to “paperless” format and communication, having access to personal computers provides several benefits: employee computer skills increase, employees can work on City projects at home, can check e-mail, and update files.  This program has minimal cost to the City and collections have been overwhelmingly appropriate, with only a .0006% loss in seven years.
