Recommendations/Options/Action Requested:
Authorize the submission of a National Park Service National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Application for Grover Barn located at 2819 Stone Barn Terrace.
Executive Summary:		Network To Freedom is a National Park Service program to coordinate preservation and education efforts nationwide for Underground Railroad resources. The National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Act of 1998 established the program and today the active program integrates local historic sites, museums, and interpretive programs associated with the Underground Railroad into the larger national story by: educating the public about the historical significance of the Underground Railroad; providing technical assistance to organizations that are identifying, documenting, preserving and interpreting sites, approximate travel routes and landscapes related to the Underground Railroad, or that are developing or operating interpretive or educational programs or facilities; and developing a network of sites, programs, and facilities with verifiable associations to the Underground Railroad, referred to as the "Network to Freedom" or the "Network". (https://www.nps.gov/subjects/ugrr/index.htm) Benefits of being a site on the Network include: -Eligibility for Network to Freedom Grants (2017 grants ranged from $1,000 to $20,000) -National recognition of the site and promotion on the Network to Freedom website. -Use and display of the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom logo. -Heritage Tourism *There are no physical restrictions to the property as a result of becoming a member site. *There are no financial obligations associated with becoming a member site.
