Adopt on first reading, Ordinance No. 9472, allowing the sale, possession, and consumption of alcohol on the public right-of-way on Friday, August 10, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. to Saturday, August 11, 2018 to 1:00 a.m., and on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to Sunday, August 12, 2018 to 1:00 a.m. in the E. 100 block of 8th Street for the Sandbar Birthday Celebration event.

 

Executive Summary:

The Sandbar event organizers have applied for a street event temporary use of right-of-way permit for their 2018 event, to be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 and on Saturday, August 11, 2018.

 

The event applicant has requested an ordinance authorizing the sale, possession, and consumption of alcohol in the E. 100 block of 8th Street during their event.

 

The request to sell, possess, and consume alcohol within the public right-of-way has been reviewed pursuant to City of Lawrence Code, Chapter IV, Article 1, Section 4-113 and was found to not be within 400 feet of a church or school.
