City of Lawrence Annual Report Available Online

Compost Giveaway a Huge Success

The City of Lawrence Spring Compost Giveaway was held Thursday through Saturday, March 20-22. The compost given away was a mix of last year’s May/June and July/August composted yard trimmings. A total of 1,700 vehicles picked up about 2,772 tons of compost over the three-day period. Efforts to market the event, including an article in the Flame newsletter distributed in utility bills, resulted in 1,000 more participants than fall’s giveaway and over twice as much compost distributed.
