Approve a text amendment, TA-18-00199, to the City of Lawrence Land Development Code, updating the requirements for recording document requirements to match the Douglas County Register of Deeds standards and adopt on first reading Ordinance No. 9515 and Ordinance No. 9562. |
|
|||
Executive Summary: |
This proposed text amendment was initiated by the Planning Commission at their May 23, 2018 meeting to align the requirements and current practices related to recording documents with those adopted by the Douglas County Register of Deeds office.
Douglas County adopted a resolution in 2017 addressing how documents shall be recorded, including minimum information standards and permissible media materials for recording documents. Their resolution allows the use of paper in place of Mylar for subdivisions, surveys, final development plans, institutional development plans, and other similar documents.
This change affects specific Land Development Code sections in article 8, the joint Subdivision Regulations, and in Article 13, Development Review Procedures. Because the subdivision regulations are a joint city-county document, the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners must also approve a corresponding resolution incorporating a matching amendment into the Douglas County Zoning Regulations.
The Planning Commission considered the item at their June 27, 2018 meeting and voted unanimously to forward this text amendment to both governing bodies with a recommendation for approval. |
